By Rekha Islam, Senior Learning Designer at Freeformers
We are looking for new Learning Designers here at Freeformers. To that end it made sense to let people know what working at Freeformers is all about and what better way than writing a little about what a normal day is like.
However there is a major roadblock here, one that I’m really struggling with.
There is no typical day.
After 5 months, I’ve yet to live the same day twice. So if your idea of heaven is Groundhog Day, this place is your worst nightmare manifest.
So what is typical? Well firstly you’re going to have a lot of fun. I know, you’ve heard that before, everyone claims they are fun. But when was the last time you walked into the office to find everyone – and I mean the ENTIRE company – gathered to sing happy birthday and then debate the finer points of chocolate vs vanilla cake?
How about every Friday in December as Christmas jumper day and people running around the building to find today’s hidden Elf (because you get a prize).
The food is good two, while I’m a treat fiend and love a free bickie, having fresh fruit on hand is just a nice extra. We have pineapple today, delicious.
Did I mention the work? We do a lot of that, always as a team.
You want to think about what a particular video or activity should look like, grab a few people around you and start scribbling ideas down and testing things out. Bounce them off the wall and each other and then roll up your sleeves and get creative. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect, we believe in failing fast but learning faster and most importantly, we’ll support you.
Have we mentioned how magical working here is?
Because, well, we use REAL MAGICIANS (seriously).
So what’s a typical day? One where you get to work with a smile on your face, look forward to working with those around you and making the best learning experiences you can.
So why not start your new year with us?
